A Thai Composer and Conductor, Piyawat Louilarpprasert from Bangkok, Thailand. Louilarpprasert’s works were performed by several established ensembles such as Lucerne Alumni Ensemble, Oerknal!, Ensemble, Ensemble Surplus (Trio), Ensemble Mozaik, ASEAN Contemporary Ensemble, University Cincinnati Chamber Players, newEar, Siam Saxophone Quartet, Mahidol University Orchestras, Royal Northern Sinfonia, RCM Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble (London), and Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. Louilarpprasert’s music has been performed in Asia, Europe and America. His works were accepted to several international composition festivals such as Lucerne Festival Academy 2016, Gaudeamus Musikweek Academy 2016, TENSO Choir 2016, Darmstadt New Music Festival 2014, Viennasaxfest 2016, Asian Composers League 2014, UMKC Composition Workshop 2013, “Work in Progress” Korean Music Project 2015, Dian Red Kechil International Young Composers Residency 2015, 5th China-ASEAN Music Week.
Recently, Piyawat is a D.M.A. candidate in composition at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. Graduated from College of Music, Mahidol University with Bachelor degree in composition and conducting, he studied under the tutelage of Valeriy Rizayev and Pamornpan Komolpamorn. Currently, Piyawat is studying Master of Composition with Dai Fujikura, Jonathan Cole, and electronic music with Gilbert Nuono and Conducting with Peter Stark at Royal College of Music (London), supported by The Charles Stewart Richardson Scholar Award. He had composition masterclasses with world renowned composer such as Wolfgang Rihm, Olga Neuwirth, Chaya Czernowin, Helmut Lachenmann, Zygmount Krauze, Ken Ueno and more.
He has received several awards and commissions, such as Royal College Orchestral Composition Competition 2017,Léon Goossens Prize 2016, Princess Galyani Vadthana Youth Orchestra Call for Score 2015, 1st prize Asia-Pacific Saxophone Academy Competition 2015, 1st prize SEADOM Composition Competition 2015, 1st prize Mahidol University Composition Prize 2015, 1st prize Young Thai Artists Awards, Call for score: Asian Composer League 2014 (Japan), Awarded 2013 Young Composers in Southeast Asia Competition, 2013,and commissioned by Vertex Sonora (Spain), Riot Ensemble (UK) and Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TH). Recently, he is selected for Artist in Residence offered by the Austrian Federal Chancellery in cooperation with KulturKontakt Austria in 2017
Apart from composing music, he also founded the Thailand Music and Art Organisation (TMAO) - its aim is to create and promote contemporary music and art internationally since 2016, as well as Tacet(i) Ensemble since 2013 as a director and conductor. Tacet(i) created variety of works, projects such as “CMC Experimental Sound Project No.1: Hor”, a collaborative works with Thai-artist, “Shuttling the Space “(Sponsor by Japan Foundation), a broadcasted nationwide, “ Thai Talented Composer ” on MU Channel, Thailand International Composition Festival Call for scores for young composer 2016. Recently, Thailand Music and Art Organisation curated a festival: Saxophone and Composition Academy in 24 - 27 April 2017 (Thailand).
